Generals end regular season on a High Note – Sweep split Double Header

Greetings – Apologies for the break in news & coverage but now it is time to play catch up.

Mother Nature forced the Generals to play a split double header on the final day of the season and the Home Town Nine made the most of it by sweeping the day. Waynesboro opened the day with a 2:30 P.M. start and belted Covington around the Fish. When the scoreboard finally slowed down the Generals had plated 15 runs

There was a short break that included a thunder storm but the dedicated fans stayed in their seats for the Turn Back the Clock Night  to 1965 contest against Rockbridge. Another game and another victory as Matt Shepherd was lights out in his final start for the summer!

The 1965 Dance contest was the highlight of the festivites that included 25 cent RC Cola’s and Moon Pies as well as $1.50 admission. The team saluted former owners Roscoe Poole and Tom Lowery as well as former players from the 1965 team.

Also on hand was the Buffalo Gap baseball team and the 2-time defending State Champs Gap Ladies Hoops team
